| Customer Reviews: Defunct Controller August 24, 2010 Traintracks81 I received this controller, plugged it in, and began playing the game. But I was missing notes that normally I would get. Come to find out, the strum bar was not "reading" the down strokes. I then requested an exchange with EA. The new one came, I plugged it in, and behold.... it would not "read" the UP strum. I have since contacted EA again and I am in the process of getting another one.
At this time, I can not inform you of whether this is a good product or not, until I receive a product that works properly. Once I have received it and judged whether it is functioning correctly, I will update this review.
Not for professionals. August 19, 2010 CJG I've tried both stratocasters and I have to say that the Rock Band 2's strum bar feels much less mushy then the first guitar. But does that improve the responsiveness? No. Unfortunately, the range of motion is too small. That means if I down strum normally on some notes, the guitar will drop notes because the down strum is still being "read." If you're a pro, you are going to notice a lot of dropped notes when you get to fast strumming sections such as Thrasher, Good Mourning/Black Friday, Black Magic, etc. I only get 3 stars on Thrasher using this guitar, but 5 stars using a Guitar Hero World Tour guitar. There is obviously something up with the strum bar. "Improved sturdier strum bar for greater precision and accuracy for advanced players." Well, I AM an advanced player and the strum bar is not sturdy, precise, or accurate. And no, it's not a "I need to get used to it" type thing. It just doesn't work. Period.
The frets are very nice and clicky. They are excellent for fretting, but are terrible when you need to quickly switch chords (such as on Poison Was The Cure).
The auto-calibrator is a nice feature for those who have HDTV's like me.
The whammy bar is TERRIBLE. It is flimsy and way too close to the strum bar. It is very difficult to reach it to use when you want to earn more Overdrive energy on the long notes.
Overall, I have negative impressions on this guitar. It is purposely "improved" but it's definitely not good enough for me. I'm just stating some important points for people who are thinking about switching to the Rock Band 2 guitar. It's okay for easier play, but a definite no-no for the scorching songs.
Rock Band 2 Wireless Guitar Review August 17, 2010 Eric Granger (Raleigh, NC USA) This product came in the original box, with all parts, manuals, stickers, and packing.
Product looks and works great. All the buttons and internal switches are working and easy to use and press.
Overall a great product and I recommend it to anyone looking to get a second or replacement guitar for Rock Band 2 on the PS3/PS2.
Worlds different! June 10, 2010 H.K.Thrower (Eatonton, GA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The buttons are godly better than the Rock Band guitar. MUCH quieter so you won't hear it over the music you're trying to enjoy. It detects your overdrive lean much better than the previous model. Just be sure to protect it with a Squaretrade Warranty.
Love this version over RB1 May 10, 2010 SAr 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I enthusiastically welcomed the design changes in the RB2 guitar, including self-calibration, more tactile strum bar, and quieter fret buttons.
