The 8 MB Memory Card uses Flash Memory, the storage technology that's revolutionizing handheld computers, digital cameras, and MP3 players. In contrast, the 128 KB memory cards that were designed for the original PlayStation use memory blocks. While large files can spill over several blocks, you can't store more than one file per block in that design, no matter how small the file. It's a memory card for PS2. It works..... it's from Sony..... nothing more to say. Just choose wisely of your seller.

Fake Sony 8MB PS2 cards can be found for much less than the too-expensive legit Sony-made versions. However, saved game corruption are significant, and build quality is very poor. I bought one Sony-made 8MB memory off Amazon through a 3rd party, presuming it was a real Sony-made item. Yes, it was 1/4 the price of the real thing, but some games didn't even recognize it or simply gave corrupted saves 100% of the time (such as MGS3 Subsistence), while others didn't seem to care (such as MGS2 Substance).
The card rattled, too, due to a lose board inside the case. It didn't fit smoothly into the PS2's memory slot, either. Spelling errors on the back was my first indication it was fake, but comparing it to a known legit Sony card, it was quite obvious.
So, be careful. Those 'new, sealed in package' deals from non-Amazon vendors through the Amazon website just might not be the real thing (you've been warned!).

The memory card is a bastion of time, allowing a player of games to store the time they've spent and preserve it... it's difficult to actually write a review for this thing. It functions as it should, and that's really all there is to it.

This is a cheap Chinese-made piece o' memory that occasionally causes game-save malfunction.
Intermittent problems are almost as bad as total non-function. Not recommendable.
