| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Product Description The layout of PlayStation2's Dual Shock 2 controller is nearly identical to that of the original PlayStation's Dual Shock controller, which is good news for most gamers. The main new feature is that, when the buttons are pushed, the controller can register how much pressure is being exerted. This adds a completely new dimension to sports, racing, fighting, and more games. Aside from the Start and Select buttons, all of the functions are analog for greater control, a wider variety of operations, and a more compelling interactive experience. Two convex analog thumb pads and two force-feedback solenoid rumblers round out the features. This controller is also compatible with all software that supports the original Dual Shock controller.
Product Description The standard controller for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, the DUALSHOCK 2 analog controller delivers a more intuitive gaming experience, with pressure sensitivity on every action button (up to 255 levels of sensitivity!) and the enhanced mobility of the analog thumbsticks. So, accelerate, decelerate, and maneuver through a course with surgical precision or unlock even more fighting moves and secret weapons. Either way, the DUALSHOCK 2 revolutionizes the way games are played. This controller is compatible with any game, including PlayStation format software, that supports digital control, analog control, vibration function and/or pressure sensitive function, and on any system including the PlayStation game console and the PS one console; however, pressure-sensitive button features work only with the PlayStation 2 system.

| Customer Reviews: replacement controller March 7, 2010 Jaime E. Collazo I chose the original manufacturer over aftermarket design because the construction is solid and holds up to all the drops bumps and smashes these controllers suffer.
PlayStation 2 Dualshock Controller is the real thing. March 5, 2010 L. J. Snider (Wisconsin) Replacing the original controller for the PS2 with a Sony brand vs. generic brand is the only way to go. It is as good or better than the one that came with the unit when it was new.
Never Underestimate the Importance of Analog January 31, 2010 Aaron Patterson (Louisville, KY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've played for years on my PS2 with multiple controllers. I've used Sony's official controller as well as some other brand controllers. I have to say the analog features in Sony's controllers, especially in the buttons, have not been properly duplicated in the "generic" controllers. When playing Metal Gear Solid 2, pressing the square button softly will draw your gun, but not force you to fire until you push it down all the way. This works wonders when you need to hold up an enemy guard but don't want to kill him, or are aiming a rapid fire machine gun and want to use the laser sight without firing off 20 rounds accidentally.
This doesn't work correctly with the non-Sony controllers I've used. There are lots of games where this analog sensitivity is utilized, and it's worth it to get the official Sony controller to ensure that your gaming experience is not disrupted by faulty controls.
I will say however that I do find some other controllers to feel more ergonomic and comfortable for my hands. The Pelican AfterGlow PRO controller I used for years had the L2 and R2 buttons inset a little further than the L1 and R1 buttons, giving my hands a more natural way to grasp the controller and have a finger comfortably over all 4 shoulder buttons without slipping out of position. That is my only gripe with the official Sony controller, and it's a very little gripe. Overall the design is basic and solid, and the analog technology is top notch.
Thank God they still make them! January 25, 2010 S. Lee (Chicago, IL) When one of our controllers broke, I was doubtful I'd find a new one....but in Amazon Land, you can find anything! The boys are happy to have a second controller again...and I am happy to have been able to find a brand new controller for them!
pleased January 9, 2010 sja (south dakota) I ordered the PlayStation 2 Dualshock Controller in Black. It came in a very timely manner and was exactly as it was described. Brand new, never used, great quality. I would certainly order an item(s) from here again!
