| Customer Reviews: So much fun for $12.00! August 23, 2010 Susan P. Peckham (Low Country, SC) This is a great game for young kids and maybe the not so young. I play it with my grandkids (8-14yrs) and they all love it.
Big improovement over the first! July 4, 2010 Kathleen Johnson (USA) I LOVE this game! I've played this over 1000 times and still love it. This addition into the series introduces one of the most addicting tools in Video game history, Pickpocketing. I spent so much time pickpocketing for cash and could never stop. My favorite levels are Rajans Palace, Dimitris club, and John Bisons Iron Horses. This one is also harder than the first. Instead of being a pure platformer this one relies more on stealth and tactic. You can't just run up on big enemies and kill them with one swipe. You have to sneak up on them and press triangle than square to slam them to the ground instakilling them. With little enemies it goes the same way to avoid attention. You also get to play as Murray and Bently. Murray is awesome because his strenth allows you to take out little enemies in two hits and sometimes big enemies. Bently is a little more harder to use because hes weakest and is only good for long distance attacks. I have been having fun using his sleep darts though and bombing the sleeping enemies. You also get better upgrades in this one than the first. You get upgrades by either collecting all bottled clues in a level or buying them with cash you picked up by destroying items, enemies, or the addicting pickpocketing. The only thing I hated was the fact that you can't redo missions you've done. There were some missions I loved enough to do over, but once you beat the game you only get to free roam for coins or unlockables, but not do missions. Theres also hidden gems unlocked when you collect all the clues. You find them in the select screen. Look out for them.
Much better than Sly 1 June 12, 2010 S. Fann This game was amazing. It was challenging, had a cool story line, and was even fun to watch others play. What more can you ask from a game? Much better than the "Jumping puzzle" game which was Sly 1.
Fun, not much lasting appeal March 20, 2010 Nunuv "Yorbiz" Ness Sly 2 is the sequel to the critically well-accepted Sly Cooper and the Thevius Raccoonus. The second installment improves on Sly 1's classic design but you can now play as Murray and Bentley, both of which play unique roles in completing missions and the heist at the end of each chapter.
I won't comment on story or anything, but the gameplay is incredible. Controls are smooth, and you can pull off Sly's numerous moves with ease. Navigating the environments is easy with Sly and Murray, but I can't say the same about Bentley.
Sly is able to press the circle button to interact with numerous objects in the environment; he can climb things, balance on top of things, and overall navigate the environment in a style sympathetic to parkour. He uses his surroundings to get where he needs to go. Murray can purchase the Turnbuckle Launch early on in the game (first level). This allows him to jump incredibly high which will grant him access to the rooftops of any level in a single leap.
But Bentley. Oh, Bentley. Bentley can't do anything. No high jump, no climbing things, nothing. Comparing navigation with Bentley and navigation with Sly and Murray is like comparing navigating GTA IV's Liberty City in a car with navigating with a helicopter (respectively). Bentley is forced to take the long way around things and seems to have only been included for the purpose of frustration in navigation.
But the missions, regardless of your character, are unique and fun. Sly's recon and retrieval missions, Bentley's hacking and minicopter missions, Murray's fighting, it all comes together to provide a varied and enjoyable experience when preparing for the heist. No longer is the game relying on Sly to do everything.
The graphics are unique and overall the game looks good. Shadow and lighting effects stand out despite the overall cartoony look, proving that beauty and unique style can exist in perfect harmony. The animations flow beautifully together, but the animations in cutscenes are jerky and the facial expressions can be laughable at times.
Once you beat the game, I really don't find any joy in going back. Yes, there are treasures and clues to collect, but scouring the same environments that you've already played in just leads to overall boredom. Since this game isn't exactly new, thankfully you will pay a minimal price for this game.
Overall, this is a great game, among the best on the PS2. It isn't without its flaws such as lacking navigation, some staleness in later levels, and lack of replay value, but it's not hard at all to fall in love with this game's hilarious, cartoony, and overall enjoyable atmosphere.
one of the best games i ever played January 27, 2010 bob the reason i did not give it a full five stars is because it was almost perfect the story was good the movement was amazing and the environments were great
now the reason it isnt the best game ive ever played is because im older and play more advance games
i geuss to sum it all up i should just say 4 and a half stars best platform game ever
